I have always been a fan of alternative energy, I have always been interested in saving our environment. The only problem is that as beautiful as New Zealand is , we seem to be lacking the knowledge and the inspiration to keep our country clean and green.
I am passionate about sustainable renewable energy Solar, Wind and Biofuels.I believe that there is still a place for Oil but not at our rate of consumption.
I believe that living sustainably does not require a compromise in life style why shouldnt you drive your car to work or use your boat at weekends? Why can’t you have a 52 inch plasma tv and watch DVDs all night long if you want?.
I think it is time to take responsibility for our energy needs, Our Own Energy needs. We spend a lot of time moaning about the cost of power and the price of fuel, so let’s do something about it!
The reality is this as I see it , we will not do anything our selves as it is not convenient it is far easier to pay the power bill and buy our fuel each week than it is to make our own power and buy locally made fuel ( Biofuel ) for the car and moan about it.
Let me ask how many people use the new energy-saving bulbs? did it make a difference to your power bill. Did you switch off all those stand by appliances at the wall ? Did you see a reduction? I did these things and it made no difference to my power bill. in fact my power cost increased. WHY.
I am new to blogs as a matter of fact I prefer normaly to keep my opinions to myself but I have had enough. I am a working man with a family and a morgage like most of you, I do not make a lot of money at work but I am happy enough. I would be in the under 50k a year bracket for earning but we do all right. I have been involved in sustainable energy for several years and have developed a number of projects over the years like a hybrid Diesel elctric boat. Not very fast but very economic to run. An electric Motorbike it went very well with a range of 80kms and a top speed of 100kmh and a diesel hybrid electric Car This was a lot of fun and for around town it was ideal. What I am working up to is that these technology’s are available to us all but at a huge cost. This is what burns me those of us who could benefit from these technology’s the most are the ones who can least afford them.
I would like to make known that I am involved in a biodiesel factory. we make diesel from Used vegetable oil and sell it in our home town, it works as a direct replacement for Diesel. Biodiesel has been around for years and is sold and used all around the world, so why do New Zealanders think of it as an experimental fuel? And why do new car manufacturers build cars and trucks that prohibit biodiesel use? Why do they not build their engines to use Biodiesel to help us break away from oil dependency?
Why are hybrid cars so expensive and why are they petrol driven and not Diesel, why are they not flexi fuel?
